when I started doing noise in the early 90s I had zero equipment. I recorded using anything I could find in my bedroom and put it directly to cassette. I had very basic single tape player/recording with a very basic voice dictation mic. I would hang it from the fan to capture the sounds.
I thought it would be funny to take my current equipment and record, again, directly to cassette using as similar tape player/recorder. Obviously the end result is the sound not being captured well, with no depth, no low end, flat, etc and that is the way it was meant to be. No 8 track, no layering of tracks, no equalizers, no post production, nothing. Just the basics in memory of the early days.
